Hello from Redding, CA, Charlotte, NC, Cedar Hill, TX, Richland, WA, Arcata, CA, Trinidad, CA. The road less travelled does not apply to me. Actually I have travelled many roads. I have loved the wonderful opportunities I have had to travel this summer.  I have had amazing opportunities to reconnect with many close friends and family. Please know it is my desire to see as many of you as possible when I come into town. Yet it is difficult as I am there for only a small amount of time. I value the time I get to be with each of you. I have often wished I could be many more people than just one.  But alas God did not make me to be that way.  Please keep up with my newsletter and Facebook if you have one so you will know when I am in your area.

I started in June in the beautiful state of NC. This trip’s purpose was to see my parents who I had not seen for two years.  I have opted in this newsletter to place picture collages because otherwise it  would make this newsletter to busy. As you can see I was quite busy. God has a funny way of dealing with us and for me it was a movie I was watching on the plane to NC. Yes i know some of you are not fans,  but “Moana” really spoke to me. After spending the last two years allowing God to rework my heart, it was profound how as I was landing where I used to call home and yet it was not truly home to me any more. I still see it as a place of home for me reserved in my heart. The place I call home is now beyond NC.  I had the most amazing visit with my parents and was able to build a birdhouse for my mom. I was also able to get copies of some family drawings from a family member in Germany back pre WWI. It is a blessing to have that in my heritage. I would have to say it was one of the best visits I ever had with them. I miss being near especially in this season. Yet I know more than ever I am in the place I am meant to be.  It was great reconnecting with those I was able to see. Please know it is truly my heart to connect with everyone while I was there. If you see I am near and you wish to connect then please let me know and I will see what I can do to reach out to you. So then I travelled on word.

So off to Texas I flew. I don’t know what your experience is. Yet I know mine.  It is hard to deal with furniture and things that you have collected over a lifetime. Besides it was a balmy 98 with high humidity. We persevered and we were able to greatly reduce the mountain of things. I have learn in this season of my life I value living my life much more simply and investing in the relationships more than the things I possess. I am grateful to all who I was able to spend time with during my visit. I also spent a good deal of my time sorting through paperwork and photos.  I am an expert at scanning papers and managed to get through with a paper cut.  We celebrated Alicia’s birthday by Escaping a room. This was one of the best one’s I have been to.  It was truly challenging. Paul gets honorable mention for solving a puzzle without any idea what he was solving before we needed it. The whole group truly worked well together and all did their part to get us out on time for the win!! One another true highlight was being able to see my Methodist Church family and to Guest Judge their Blueberry fest. Thank you for the Love and Hugs both inside and out.

After about three days in California I was off to Richland WA with my friend Dena. We had an extraordinary road trip filled with excitement (seeing the waterfall) and culinary experiences (we dared to try a Vegan place in Eugene, OR it was our first time trying it and may well be our last.) We did experience some of the best coffee and crepes I have tasted in a long time. Then there was the “SPUDNUT”  a donut made from spuds. This was also a first I did enjoy it. There are times when life gives us little speed bumps and during those times God has his way of truly reminding us to keep our focus on him. Sometimes it helps for us to go back to our childhood wonder and experience Him fresh and new.  That is why the swingset. It just reminded me to look to him and take a moment to pause and reflect with Him the challenges of our life. As we give it to him we then are able to trust Him to work out the details of our lives. I realized this trip was filled with firsts for me. The last was sharing in the tradition of Dena’s family to have breakfast on the 4th of July.  This was a pleasant departure from the traditional hamburgers and hot dogs. It was much easier to eat moderately. The drive home was filled with beautiful views.

Returning back to California took me into the next few weeks running with a sneak preview of the next season and what it will look like for me.  I was able to serve at Worship U, which is a shorten version of our school but focuses more on the Singing and Arts.  I helped young  and older people discover their giftings in art and helped them understand how they could use their art to encourage others. I also had the awesome opportunity to paint there. I will share about the paintings at the end of the newsletter. Living here in the summer in Northern California is a challenge to beat the heat. In the middle of the Worship U my trusty little Hyundai gave up and could fight the heat no longer. The AC system gave out along with the alternator and a few other maintenance issues.  Helped me decide as I was already praying about a new vehicle.  So I now have a Honda CRV. With the new car and the heat Karla and I decided to take a short trip to the Coast to get a break from the heat. As some of you saw my FB live videos i had a great time and another spud first. I had an Ice cream cone made from mashed potatoes. It was amazing!  I felt like a little kid. I paid for my new car in full and it has taken a big bite out of my budget for this next year. So that is why I am diligently taking advantage of the time and doing what I love painting.  I have sold a couple of my paintings and I am building my portfolio.  I will provide a link for the prints I have available. Because of the paintings I did sell I have paid a good bit of my school bill paid. I only have a balance of $300 left to pay by Aug 28th.  I will be traveling quite a bit in this next season I have calculated my budget it is possible.

Yet I am a daughter of the King and I don’t just get by.  I am auctioning off the original of the Sunflower Painting “Emergence”  and will also have prints for purchase of that painting , the Piano “Intimacy”.  I will be scanning “The Invitation” which I still have the original available and I am willing to take bids on that one as.   So while we are on the subject of paintings here are the most current ones.  All proceeds from my paintings will fund my travels and ministry for school this year.

The painting I painted was called the” Invitation”

Date: 7/11/2017, Tuesday @ Worship U

Artist: Elizabeth Zinn;

Title: “The Invitation”

Meaning: Based off Exodus 20 where God “invites” Israel to have the same access to Him as Moses yet they were too afraid. I felt like God was inviting the people at Worship U to come up to the mountain of God and experience Him as Moses did.

And this one I did for the weekend before the 4th of July

Date: 6/30/2017, Friday night

Artist: Elizabeth Zinn;

Title: “United We Stand”

Description: This represents where both God and Unity will bring healing to our nation’s brokenness. When painting this I released a Psalm 133 which was written on the canvas before painting.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron’s beard, Coming down upon the edge of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing-life forever.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭133:1-3‬ ‭NASB‬‬ – I was able to sell this painting for $75 to a man from AZ who write political blogs.

Here are a couple more I have in the works.

I am painting this week  and I have been working on some others trying some new techniques.  So these are some examples of my new venture. If you’re interested in purchasing any of my paintings  Click Here or wish to make a donation to my school account. You can Click Here.

As for what lies ahead. Well school starts officially on the 28th of August. The first weekend after school starts we go on our first trip to Santa Cruz from Sept 7th through the 10th. We will be working a create conference and it will be our first time working together as a team. Then the last weekend of September we will be traveling to Jackson, WY.  In between the two trips we will be serving at the church and the school with all that makes things creative. We will be scheduling and managing and all of the rest. It is going to be an exciting year.

I feel like the Lord has really been wiping my slate clean and helping me to learn to connect with my childlikeness and the expectation of what God has up His sleeve.  I am also coming to a deeper understanding of the Peace of God in our lives.  The Bible speaks of how blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be the sons and daughters of God. If we are truly the sons and daughters of God then we are carriers of Peace. Wherever we go we are to carry that peace and make the peace. Because we are are related to the Peacemaker. This is another place that God is working deeper in my heart. Do you have peace in your heart. If not invite God to establish the peace in the places you are lacking it.

So may the Peace that surpasses all understanding be in your hearts and minds.

Please know I am well and traveling

Love and Blessings to ALL!

Elizabeth Zinn
